Generation with Honor: A Year with the Young Marines

Every generation produces young men and women of character, and the national youth organization ‘The Young Marines’ boasts over 15,000 such individuals formed in units across the country. Ranging in age from 8 to 18, the Young Marines pledge to live a drug-free, healthy lifestyle and to adopt the US Marine Corps core values of honor, courage and commitment, while fulfilling their groups’ primary mission of honoring America’s military veterans and their service to our country.

The documentary film Generations of Honor: A Year with the Young Marines follows the 2014 Young Marine of the year; a young woman from Northern Kentucky named Dakota Richter, along with the program’s key national staff, adult volunteers and other division Young Marines as they travel from Washington DC and Pearl Harbor… to Window Rock, Arizona to meet with the last of the WWII Navajo Code talkers… and finally to the hallowed ground and beaches of Iwo Jima, escorting remaining veterans of that iconic 1945 battle.
